Prayercast exists to fuel a global movement of prayer for the sake of the lost. But victorious and world-changing prayer involves more than knowing what to pray for. We need to know how and why we should pray. These teaching resources are meant to awaken hearts and create a deeper understanding of the essential role prayer is to play in the life of the believer and in the Great Commission itself. Join us to explore why prayer is the first and most critical step in reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In this powerful message John Piper expounds on the connection between the victory of God and our prayers. Our battle is against the principalities of darkness and these battles are won through the prayers of God's people. This same power is available to all who believe, whether a housewife or the most powerful of world leaders. The Gospel will advance in the world through prayer.
We may question the need for prayer when we are living monotonous, self-centered and risk-free Christian lives. But, when we step out to risk our lives for Jesus and the spread of the Gospel, we will find ourselves desperately aware of our need for prayer.

When Jesus cleared the temple in Mark 11:11-17, he declared, “my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Prayer should be the defining factor of our churches. And yet, in many churches today it is given the least priority. Jim Cymbala and his church, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, have much to teach all of us on the power and centrality of prayer!

God works through mediators. Everyone was physically borne in somebody's body before their birth. It is the same spiritually. Spiritual life comes when someone was willing to bear you in their heart through prayer. That's where true and world-changing intercession begins. © 2010 www.HeartCryForRevival.com. In the same way Moses interceded for the people of Israel, God is looking for intercessors. Intercessory prayer is not just wrestling with the forces of evil, but its wrestling with God, as Jacob did. There were approximately two million Hebrews and only Moses stepped up as an intercessor. God searches the world looking for those willing to stand in the gap through prayer.

God desires to accomplish the impossible for His glory and He wants to use us to do it! He accomplishes the impossible in answer to our prayers. God’s not interested in all our gifts, strategies, and plans. He wants to be God. Our job is to join Him in His work by prevailing in prayer.

We often focus our missionary efforts on raising funds to do the work, when prayer is a far more vital component of reaching the world. Missionaries today need the power of prayer. The greatest need in missions is for intercessors: our world needs praying missionaries, and our missionaries need praying churches to send them.

God does not desire His people to passively submit to His will but rather he encourages us to ask God to make things different. Prayer changes things! All throughout the Bible the people of God are challenged to ask, seek, knock. Don't let the theological mysteries of prayer keep you from asking for Him to move and work in situations.

Victory over the evil one comes through prayer, and how God deals with man is affected by prayer. God is ready to answer; it is we who are hesitant to ask. Our view of God will greatly affect the enormity and frequency of our prayers. Prayer is great only because the God who hears is great, and He answers when we cry to Him.
